write a report describing the event. Take these guidelines and a notebook to
the concert and quietly take notes between works. Concerts of Jazz, Broadway or any form of popular music may NOT be used. Students may NOT
review a concert in which they perform.
Format:
Follow the format of the sample paper exactly. The report must be typed, a
minimum 1500 words in length, double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman font and 1” margins. If there are more than four works on the concert,
pick two from each half of the program to discuss. Do NOT include biographical information about the performers.
For each work, describe the following:
1. A biography of the composer
2. Musical period (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, etc.)
3. Genre (opera, symphony, concerto, chamber music, etc.)
4. Form (sonata, rondo, etc.)
5. Number of movements
6. Featured instruments and/or voices
7. Use of tempos and dynamics
8. Special techniques (e.g. trills, tremolo, pizzicato, glissando, etc.) 9. Your
opinion on what is expressed by the music
Summarize the concert:
1. Your reaction to the concert
2. What you liked or disliked about the music
3. Your desire to attend a similar concert in the future
