Purpose: HIV prevalence in college students has seen a massive increase. This is mainly
attributed to risky behavior and ignorance. This proposal intends to create awareness
and inspire college students to take a step in getting tested. This idea would help those
who are affected and not affected be aware of their status and make decisions about
their health.
I have chosen the topic AIDS Awareness for my proposal report. The rates of infection are however
slowing down generally but in colleges in the past years, they have been appreciating. HIV
prevalence in most colleges correlates with HIV testing and therefore there is the need to
encourage testing. Many students are ignorant about their status making some of them to spread
the infection unknowingly. Some group claims that the process of testing itself is traumatizing.
Some students are unsure about their status and this has prevented them from moving on with their
lives. Most of them fear the outcomes of the results claiming that it can further ruin their lives if
they were found they got AIDS.
Some of the techniques I will use for persuasions will include signs and posters that will act as
an encouragement. Since testing positive is the worst-case scenario, some of my posters will
include tips on living positively. Encouraging the students using billboards will also create
awareness in them. It will make them to be more open minded about the outcomes and make the
necessary decisions about their lives.
I will interview some experts who work in the HPA about the benefits of testing and the
different methods involved. I will also inquire about risky behaviors and how to move on after
testing.
