Career Readiness
In recent decades, finance industry, which helps enterprises that need funds get
financed from investors, plays a significant role in the development of this society. As
an investment management major student, I dream of working for an investment bank
or securities. Specifically, I want to be a global risk manager in ML. For this job, at
least I need complete my bachelor degree. Besides, a certificate of the Chartered
Financial Analyst (CFA) would prove the sufficiency of my background knowledge and
my sharp insights of finance industry, which allows me to know the risks and to lower
them.
I already know things about finance, since my family has been doing investments
for decades. Influenced by my father, I love the feeling of trading. When I was a 11year-old boy, I made my first trade through my father’ s account. Of course, it was not
a successful trade at all – I lost 1/3 of the money in the account. I was depressed, but I
did not give up. It took me about 2 years to learn my lessons, such as how to read those
indices and how to balance the risk and the return. I kept trading as I grew up, and one
day, my gains finally surpassed my losses. Being a stock trader for nine years, I think
that finance has already become part of my life; hence, I hope that I can get a job
involved in finance, such as a global risk manager.
The only barrier that lies between my dream job and me is my resume. To be
specific, to improve the quality of my resume, I need to find more internships as I study
in NAU; besides, I need to get the CFA to prove my ability. Surely, this will not be easy,
but I will strive for it. Such a knowledgeable, experienced, and hard-working man I am,
I believe that I can get my dream job in the future.
