amendments it is now stored in Washington D.C.. But how the constitution came out is not
easy,55 delegates meeting in 1787 at Pennsylvania State House and this meeting is call
Constitutional Convention, and in the meeting the delegates agree to form a better, and stronger
government, then the new constitution first came out in July, in 1787, and it was signed on
September 17, 1787 in Philadelphia.
Constitution in Past
The author talks about the history of the U.S. Constitution in the book “The United States
Constitution”, she mentions that The U.S. Constitution is the most significant document in the
American history to established how the government of the U.S. works, and set the basic right
for the American citizens. From the book “ In may 1787, 55 delegates from all the shares except
for Rhode Island gathered at the Pennsylvania States House”, we know that Rhode Island is the
only states to refuse to send a delegates to the Constitutional Convention.
Before the US is independent. The colonists in 1775 decided they want to be free from
the rule of British. Therefore, the revolutionary begin and mark a significant act in history to win
this freedom. The colonists are in belief of how the colonies should become independent of
British. In the following year, Adams, Jefferson, and Livingston write up the declaration of

According to the book “The U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, and a New Nation” it
mention the fight between US and Britain. So before the U.S. constitution produced, The Patriots
of United States had been fighting for the independence from Britain for five years. In September
1783, when the war ends, The United Stated was struggled to manage a new nation. So the
country turned out to have a weak government at the beginning. Not very long, “Nine of the 13
states have to vote in favor of passing a new law” (Otfinoski, 2013, p8) that means nine states
were agreed to the idea of created a government with a president of Congress. But there were
still a lots for problems to manage the nation, in May 1787 after the Constitutional Convention,
55 delegates from 12 states came up with a new constitution.
Constitution in Nowadays
The book “ Who Wrote the U.S. Constitution” talks when The Revolutionary War ends
United States became a new country and then the author talks about how the State delegated
begin planning a federal convention to discuss the Articles of Confederation. Then later the U.S.
Constitution first produced in July, 1787, by the agreement of the Great Compromise from the
convention delegates. And there are five people who stayed in Philadelphia and formed the
committee of detail, and there are John Rutledge, Nathaniel Goream, Oliver Ellsworth, Edmund
Randolph, and James Wilson. They copy down the resolution which had been done, and come up
with the first draft of the U.S. Constitution. In these four people, James Wilson also is the person
who brings up the idea of electors the president by people. Then, in 1788, the Constitution
became law. And The Constitution had been amended during 1795 to 1992 (Ransom, 2011, p4445).
According to “The United States Constitution”, The second draft of the U.S. Constitution
was print out in August 6, 1787 from a Philadelphia printer. Then on September 1787, Jacob

Shallus produced the engrossed copy of the Consitution, and Jacob Shallus was hired by the
convention to wrote down the document by hand in two day. And base on the timeline, in
December 15, 1791 The Bill of Right is added to the U.S. Constitution, and the Constitution is
stored in Washington D.C. in 1800. Also it put on display in the Library of Congress in 1924.
Therefore, over all the informations about United States constitution. The book “ George
Washington Law Review Arguendo” said one importance and achievement concerning the
articles of confederation is that it become evident to most that a reform needed to be take place.
Thus, the constitution is born. Enacting laws and policies of how citizens are to be treat fairly
through the rights that is support to them. It only take nine states to ratify the constitution for it
be set in place. Even without the states of North Carolina and Rhode Island, the constitution is
acknowledged, and enactment begin in 1789. The day that New York is seen as a capital is the
day that the confederation end. Each state holds its sway, opportunity, and autonomy, and each
power, locale, and right, which isn’t by this Confederation explicitly designate to the United
States, in Congress collect. (Maggs, 2017, p. 417)
Differences Between Past and Nowadays
Maggs also mentions that the meaning of the constitution was still unclear to many
scholars. There have been so many changes in which has enacted a difference in how the
constitution is perceived in the modern times as opposed to the meaning of it at first enactment.
For instance, principles, meanings and terms, as well as the general knowledge and beliefs of the
society has changed over time. Thus, giving the constitution a newer meaning or allowing for it
be interpreted differently than it was in the beginning. The works of scholars and those
interested, they have broadened the scope of the meanings of the constitution in various forms.
Although multiple meanings still exist depending upon the belief of the individual who is trying

to understand the concepts of the constitution. However, clarity is more of the inferences as
opposed to trying to determine the meaning of the constitution in the modern world. (Maggs,
