In addition to the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) assignment for the given scenario, develop an
accompanying scope statement. Finally, include a WBS dictionary in order to define and provide
supporting detail for at least four elements of the WBS. Refer to the PMI® Practice Standard for Work
Breakdown Structures to ensure that your result follows the standard format.

Note: For guidance on how to organize and develop this assignment, see figure 4.5 on page 114 of the
text. This is an example of a WBS (Structured outline of deliverables), and the OBS (structured outline of
the organization for the purpose of mapping WBS deliverable assignments). The account codes could be
anything you want them to be. Notice how simple they are in the textbook example. Think of them as
“numbered outline headings to indicate the indented nature of the WBS deliverables–along with other
identifiers used based upon the needs of the organization”. The diagram includes numbers–and these
are fine for the purposes of this assignment.
When you assign WBS elements–work packages are usually the means for doing so. This is why each of
the WBS elements are numbered WP XYZ. etc.
Final note: The WBS dictionary found in the PMI site is a very detailed dictionary. In fact, project
managers often use forms such as these for creating and assigning work packages. For this assignment,
use the simple version of the WBS dictionary that is provided in Practice Standard for the Work
Breakdown structure (page 60). The simple version of the WBS dictionary is rather like an indented WBS
spreadsheet with an extra cell or two for the purpose of explaining each element. This is all you need for
this assignment.
