Cognitive development is one of the most important aspect of development. Depends on one
where one is raised, cognitive development places a very important role in building early skills
such as language, vocabulary, prereading and solving numerical problems. Activities as such
help a kid to understand how to solve some difficult problems as they grow. I choose this topic
because as a father I want to get the understanding about the cognitive development process.
This paper will help the reader understand the importance of cognitive development. The societal
impact to cognitive development, how people with cognitive impairment could be given the
chance to learn, how the gain in the field of psychology can help to build a comprehensive
cognition of a child and research conducted in children to find out their cognitive development.
(Ginsburg & Koslowski, 1976) this explain how piaget differs previous believes that
cognitive development is an inborn tendency as such societal expect certain behavior from
people without considering the process involve. Piaget disagree and argue that cognitive

development happens in stages and as such people mature into it as they gets older. Though
people are born with it but children learn as they grow depend on the society which they are
found.
(Oakley, 2004) the author explains the impact migration have on cognitive development.
Because kids move from one point to the other, processing information of different kinds will
affect the child ability to learn and process information. As such the author concluded that people
who move from one point with the other kids will be a burden on the society because storing and
processing the information is difficult for kids as such since they are not stable in a location.
(Morgan, 2009) this article compares the cognitive development to that of an autistic
child to a regular kid. The autistic kid could not have recognized people feelings when they are
sad or the reason why they were feeling as such. Both the kids was involve in another experiment
that could follow the direction of the eye. The regular kid could do it well but the kid with autism
could not perform the experiment. When it comes to during things systematically, the autistic
kids did better than the regular child. people learn differently.
(Zhong, 2008) the author tries to measure intelligence using cognitive approach. This
approach makes me to keep asking myself the difference between intelligence and knowledge
because the research was looking at converting intelligence to knowledge and back to
intelligence while applying the cognitive approach. The researcher came up with a conclusion
that the structural, functional, and behavior simulation are all part of a cognitive approach.
(Nelson, 2017) the author is almost like piaget as well because he tries to make readers
understanding how he feel about the age of children that can give an alternative to a scenario.
Prior to his experiment, researchers believe a child can perform this experiment only at certain

age. He argues that though it may be true but other kids may learn about giving an alternative to
a scenario at other age range as well.
It is very important to focus more on cognitive development because it help us in
understanding human development. From the various school of thought we just read through, we
can conclude that people have different way of learning. The autistic child will learn
systematically as compare to the regular. Piaget argue that cognitive development is a process
that a child gets major and be able to solve societal problem. Other still argue that kids of people
who move from one point to the other stands the chance of not being able to adopt as compare to
a child who is raised in a stable society. Despite the different ideas, the research help us to
understand the important of cognitive development. Making us to understand, help us deal with
the different people in our diverse society
