When we are in the water, it’s hard for us to see well in the water… When we are in the water, it’s hard for us to see well in the water due to our eyes evolving to see through air vs. the ocean. Marine mammals have large eyes that have adapted to help them see better and farther, but it still doesn’t quite cut it. Instead, they put more energy into hearing to help them “see”.
