Introduction
McDonald’s; the world’s lasrgest fast food that makes us happy. Their vision and
statement: to be the best quick service restaurant experience.”. In 2015 though, within the first
three months of this year, the world’s largest fast food chain, reported a significant drop in sales
in the United States, Asia, and Europe. Fewer and fewer customers were interested in eating at
the restaurant. Despite the chain’s strong efforts to stop the decline in sales, there seems to
continue a wearing away in business.
McDonalds’ business establishments offer many different food items such as burgers,
French fries, chicken, pastries, breakfast, and many other different food choices. All things
considered, McDonalds does not make any prompt offers of nutritious items. Instead the
company constructs and bases the supply of their cuisine in restaurants managed by outside
administrators.
The income level of McDonalds dropped by 11% in the first quarter of 2015, which is
very similar to opposing deals that occurred in the fall. The company is working towards
improving the deals that it offers as a result of the unfavorable standards amidst its divisions. The
company’s administration is always fighting towards satisfying the needs of their customers.
Unfortunately, their many efforts and newly presented menu items and menu enhancements
failed to attract new customers.
The first three months of 2015 proved to be a huge struggle for McDonalds. Business fell
off from Europe, Asia, and the United States at alarming rates. Sales fell 2.3% globally during
the quarter that ended in March of 2015, which happened to be worse than the 1.8% that was
predicted by analysts on Wall Street. The cause of this significant drop in sales could have

stemmed from changes in consumer opinions, an exceedingly complex menu, and competing
chains, such as the Panera Bread and Chipotle.
Regardless of many promotions attempting to increase sales, they still fell 2.6% in the
United States. Even in Europe, its largest Market, McDonalds struggled mainly in Russia and
France. In the Middle East and Asia, similar sales fell 8.3% with issues in China and Japan that
seemed to stem from a food safety scare that occurred in the summer of 2014. In summary, weak
sales cost McDonalds a 28% decrease in profit during the quarter.
Steve Easterbrook took over as CEO in March 2015 and started to implement a strategy
to hopefully turn around the business. He mapped out a plan to simplify a once cluttered and
overly complex menu. He also ruled that weak stores shut down and gave workers at companyowned stores raises. However, these efforts have given McDonalds little to show for.
“McDonald’s management team is keenly focused on acting more quickly to better address
today’s consumer needs, expectations and the competitive marketplace,” said Easterbrook in a
statement.
Research Variable
An example of a research variable in this situation would be the income generated from
sales of specific items at McDonalds. It would show the consequences that occur from the
decrease in recent business. The awareness and evaluation on the income produced will be
beneficial in comprehending the issues that confront McDonalds.
The variable relies on diverse variables, making this business variable an independent
variable that studies the accomplishments, advancements or regressions that result from their
efforts. As a result, the comprehension of the variable is fundamental in progressing the general
analyzation of the issue of sales decreasing.

Methods of Data Collection
When gathering information to analyze, the investigation will rely on the quantitative as
well as subjective investigating techniques to collect information for the variables. The survey
information that is subjective will consist of the data that is not in mathematical structure. This
data can be collected using meetings, surveys, and perceptions. Clear cut information is
subjective, and it assists with breaking down quantitative data sufficiently. The subjective
technique helps with focusing on the issues that the business is facing at the level of individual
stores. This method proves to be increasingly crucial because it gives the company the ability to
understand precisely the problems affecting McDonalds’ sales. It will be difficult to grasp the
issues causing the decay of business without acquiring a substantial observation about the
problems.
So, collecting quantitative data will give researchers the numerical structure information
that is resolved in different groups of estimations. Crude information and figures cannot be used
to compose business variable information in tables or charts. Controlling the research on sales
helps to acquire quantitative data that is used to understand the study of the company’s issues. In
conclusion, it is fundamental to guide blended research techniques and data, both subjective and
quantitative, to understand the analyzation of the issues leading to the decline of the business.
Validity and Reliability of Data
Assessment techniques are crucial to determining if the strategies used to gather data
develop valid information. Conducting surveys will show the degree in which the chosen
strategies will generate easy to foretell results and findings. Researchers will have to perform
quality tests, study parallel types of dependability, and conduct reliability tests that are crucial

when discovering the degree to which the researcher depends on the data and how they agree on
the dependability of the data that is collected.
When it comes to legitimacy, the professionals should rely on the diversity of legitimacy
tests and assessment projects to obtain the necessary information. These include build
legitimacy, examining legitimacy, face legitimacy, and developmental legitimacy. Researchers
can depend strongly on the tests performed to determine the validity of the gathered data. To
understand if the data is legitimate and dependable, researchers have to keep an eye on if the
analyzed information conforms to the topic of the investigation fears of decreases in sales at
McDonalds.
