I think Le Guin predicts for the future following the end of the conflict between humans and Athsheans is continued conflict but instead of it being between the humans and Athsheans it will be internal conflict between the Athsheans themselves. The story ended with “Maybe after I die people will be as they were before I was born, and before you came. But I dont  think they will.” The Athsheans did not know killing before the humans. Murder was not a thing but now they do and Selver does not believe they ever will unlearn it. Yes I do believe her work is fundamentally critical of our ideas about progress. Progress happens no matter if it is good or bad. We always move forward. We cannot ever fully unlearn something or go back in time no matter how hard we try. Once something is done, said, or learned it cannot be undone.  2. Marx believed that rebellion was inevitable as long as we had a class structure in place as a society. Le Guin although believed rebellion happened when individuals were treated as less than equals and were not reliant on a specific class structure as the Vietnam war did not rely on a class structure. They both do agree that the terms of rebellion are based on the core of injustice and inequality. Le Guin just did not mention class structure as a fundamental part as Marx did. Wollstonecraft and Le Guin also shared more in common than just being the female authors we analyzed this semester. Wollstonecraft believed, like Le Guin, that minorities were more likely to fall subject to oppression and those who appear weaker in the oppressor’s eyes.
