However, there were two that stuck out to me on being the most important when I read through them. Firstly, include a clear, direct subject line. This one is important to me because I do not open the majority of my personal email unless it includes a subject line that I know I need to open. I get a ton of spam emails a day so I always read the subject line while scrolling through the endless emails. Secondly, proofread every message. Proofreading was taught to me in elementary a lot by my 4th grade teacher, also my aunt, because she hated all the mistakes kids would carelessly make. Now, it really irks me when I read a professional email and there are many misspellings or words doubled together. You also want to make sure you didn’t accidently include something you didn’t want to or add something at the end. The one email etiquette tip I would include that was not in either article is to watch your punctuation and capitalization. That is included in proofreading but if you use too many exclamation marks, it isn’t as professional as just using periods. Sending an email that has a paragraph with no punctuation is unprofessional, and starting sentences without capitalization throws off the look of the whole email.
