This journal provides insight into the interrelation of substance abuse and mental
illnesses. According to the journal, there exist a heterogeneous population of people with cooccurring disorders, and their prevalence of co-morbidity can vary depending on the diagnostic
group. The psychiatric disorders have been shown to co-occur with substance abuse disorders.
The technological advances have been linked to the rapid development of understanding the
neurotransmitter systems, molecular biology and neural circuitry involved in substance abuse
and mental disorders. The authors emphasize on the emerging data that concerns four psychiatric
disorders that commonly occur with substance abuse illnesses. These include attention-deficit

although it was difficult to conclude on the causalities. The research further suggests that if the
association of violence experienced by the pregnant mothers and postnatal depression were
causal, the experience of domestic violence should be attributed to the perinatal mental disorders.
The systematic review also showed that domestic violence during pregnancy could be linked to

fundamental dimensions of personality operated jointly as clinical risk factors for groups with
