Persuasive Prompt: Should young people be required by parents to have a budget and stick
to it?
I agree that young people should be required to have a budget and stick on it as
recommended by their parents.
I support this with reasons like budgeting helps teenagers to be responsible for their

finances. It helps us teenagers to cut on our spending. When teenagers get independent and leave
their home, it will help them. When teenager are growing, they have many things in mind that
they want to do. Some want to buy an expensive phone others dresses and many others making
us get out of the budget. If parents help us to stick to the budget we have, I will be of good help.
As teenagers, budgeting clothes and entertainment are the main things that we spend money on.
An example, in the USA today news Mindy Fetterman, published the article that we teenagers
can reduce the spending if we use a budget. This article explains how young people spend our
money when we do not have a budget and how sticking on a budget can help us.
Secondly it will make our families live in peace. When I spend my money well as agreed
and stop bugging my parents for more money, it will make us live in peace and harmony. I do not
like how I see most teens fighting with their parents because they did not budget their money
well and wanted more money. For example, in my home are always fights about how big my
budget is with my parents and me because of my desires but, not fights that I used all the money,
and I need more money. Nevertheless, I love how am living in a peaceful home.
It helps a teenager to be financially independent. Most teenagers are in schools. When we
are given money by our parents and stick to it, we become independent of ourselves, as we will
not be asking for money now and then. As we can see our parents’ budget, their money for their
children, mortgages, loans and many more and they can stick with their budget. So why can we
not budget and stick to them? Moreover, they are the ones with many responsibilities than us.
For example, my cousin does not stick to his budget despite me trying to help him. I see he
cannot because his parents do not stick to theirs. I argue all parents show as an example so that
we follow suit
Yes, I know that sticking to a budget is not easy for teenagers. When teenager do not stick

to their budget, they make their parents and guardians to suffer a lot when trying to find more
money to provide for them. We should learn that money is hard to find but easy to use. When we
use our money without following the budget, we make life hard for the one providing it to use. I
would like to argue my fellow teenagers to learn and stick to their budget so that we can be good
kids to our parents and guardians.
In conclusion, budgeting and following the budget in teenagers bring peace, love and
trust from our parents. This is because we will be more responsible. It helps us to be
independent.
