Answer & Explanation:I want you to discuss a selected
topic on criminal profiling. Support your opinion on/of this topic by
demonstrating examples of that influence.. Your grade is determined by how
well you support your argument utilizing the materials discussed in this course
and research and reference material you locate. What I do not want is a
regurgitation of the course materials. Expand on the materials, do not repeat
them. Document your facts utilizing standard APA style. The paper is to be in
APA format and the body of the paper is to be between 10 and 12 pages. The
body of the paper does not include the title page, table of contents, appendix
or references. This is to be of high quality, free of spelling and grammatical
errors, and of original work.
Dangerous Minds: Criminal Profiling
Profiling is a primes in which is based upon a belief that an
individual’s behavior can be predicted; based on knowledge and the
personality of the criminal. When it comes to criminal profiling, there
are limits in which the behavior analysis towards the suspect brings
hopes to law enforcement that could potentially help them aid their
search and to narrow their search down to the find the individual who
has committed the crime (Sample, I., 2010). A majority of all law
enforcement and their activities occur once a crime has been committed,
and they usually only have a small amount of time in order to try and
capture the suspect. If the police are lucky enough to gain a case that
is still within the early stages, it is a good but can become more
crucial in capturing the individual (Gladwell, 2007).
Criminal profiling intrigues me because it allows me to understand
the full concepts in how a criminal can be captured by mere belief and
profiling of the individual. I can learn the techniques involved while
narrowing down suspects to ensure I can gain the proper path in
capturing the correct suspect instead possibly obtaining one that is
innocent. I learn how it is based on the premise that humans are
creatures of habit and will follow a pattern of behavior. Profilers rely
on the fact that normal human behavior; characteristics and patterns
remain consistent, regardless of the action (Gladwell, 2007). A profile
is a list of likely traits that the individual who committed the crime
possesses. The purpose of the profile, like all other investigative
tools, is to narrow the search parameters for police to a defined set of
suspects that they can match to forensic or physical evidence if it has
been recovered and is available (Gladwell, 2007).
