The purpose of the annotated bibliography is to assist in
developing research analysis skills including critical thinking, writing, and
literature research skills. The annotated bibliography should include a
paragraph for each source containing the following information:

Wikipedia). Review the guidelines for acceptable sources by reading the
“Academic Research” section within the Student Responsibilities and Policies
tab under Course Home on the left navigation toolbar in your online course.
Identify at least ten academic sources; the descriptions for
each source must be at least one paragraph in length. If you do find something
on the World Wide Web, it must be authored and be a reliable source.

theories that you studied earlier in the course (deontology, utilitarianism,
egoism, virtue ethics, moral relativism). Determine which moral theory
the company appears to be abiding by in relation to this issue. Explain
the attributes of the decision that make you believe that this is the ethical
perspective of the company. If you agree with the ethical theory of the company,
explain why this is the best ethical position on the issue. If you do
not, explain which ethical position would be better to utilize in this

According to Tschirhart and Bielefeld, (2012), non-profit organizations are those
companies which are developed with other intentions or objectives probably mutual benefits
rather than making profits. They are established on foundations of supporting a certain course in
the society. Such organizations may be for advocating peace, poverty eradication among the poor
or even fighting for human rights. The organizations may be nationally established or may be an
international organization. On the other hand profit making organizations are those which are
developed with the aim of making profits. They operate mostly on donations from well-wishers
and at times may have independent business enterprises to support their course. They are
business oriented and their major objective is to maximize the wealth of the shareholders. These
organizations operate from the revenues they generate from their business and their survival is
based on how competitive they are in the market which they operate. The following is a
description of two organizations, a non-profit organization and a profit making organization.
The Carter Center
Introduction
This is a nonprofit organization operating in the United States that has a different motive
other than making profits. This organization was founded in the year 1982 and the main
objective at this time was to be a center of fighting diseases such as blindness and guinea disease
which were common at that time. Currently the organization is being run by an elected board of
trustees who have various roles such as managing the finances and laying down various goals
and objectives. The organization’s area of interest is in the health care sector where the members
try to help in fighting and creating awareness of diseases which have become a major problem to

the society. The organization’s headquarters are in Atlanta in the Jimmy Carter Library and from
this location the center is easily accessed by most people in need of their services because it is
open to anyone who might be in need. There are no major branches that have been established in
other nations and a few others are found across the United States (www.cartercenter.org).
They help in training medical officers and providing some of the tools which are used in
fighting diseases and other related challenges. The organization’s funding sources are major
donors from all over the world ranging from the Middle East though it is criticized because of
the bad history that has been associated with countries from this region. The organization’s
mission statement is to provide relief to various health challenges and to assist those who might
not have the capability of accessing quality health care. This organization aims at bringing peace
and fighting diseases to bring peace in the lives of people who are affected by these problems.
The organization has promised to work effectively to offer quality health care and ensure that
each and every one who is need, regarding health care services is well catered for.
Tax Exempt Status
The organization is a 501c)(3) because it is established by the Internal Revenue
Authorities as a company that has other motives which are different from making profits. The
company was developed to help many people in many countries who do not have the capabilities
of accessing quality health care and according to the law this is a charitable organization and
should be released from heavy tax burdens. The organization was awarded this status in the early
2000 when the founder was awarded the Nobel peace prizewinner for the wonderful work that
they had carried out.
Employees Who Serve in this Organization

There are various programs that are developed and implemented in this organization
where various employees in the headquarters and in other sub braches take part in planning and
implementing these programs. At the headquarters the organization has employed approximately
one hundred and seventy five employees and the number varies across the various branches in
different nations. The employees are managed by managers and boards of trustees who ensure
that all the branches are performing effectively.
Obstacles Faced by the Organization
The organization has faced challenges regarding sources of income due to lack of donors
and critics against some of the donors. These critics have led to shortages in funding some of
their programs. The company has other sources of funds to cater for these challenges such as the
United States. Some of the challenges that the organization faced on its road to success is
criticism against some of the funders and donors who were from the Middle East. The donors
were closely associated with Osama bin Laden who was one of the most wanted terrorists in
American history. They have also been criticized on one occasion about the Venezuelan
elections in the year 2004 where the organization was associated with election irregularities
which resulted to the opposition claiming that the elections were not fair. The company was
forced to write back against these allegations proving that their motive was to mutually benefit
others and not to benefit illegally.
Toyota Company
Introduction
One of the most profitable organizations in the world is Toyota which is a car
manufacturing organization. The headquarters are in Toyota City which is found in Japan though

there are other major branches all over the world where the company makes treaties with other
firms to act as partners in selling their products. The organization was founded in the year 1937
by Mr. Kiichiro Toyoda and the companies area of interests is in automobiles especially cars and
engine parts which are sold worldwide. The company has major braches in India and Argentina
with other sub branches in different nations worldwide. Their mission statement is to serve and
attract more clients with quality products and their value statement is to respect customers and
put them first through provision of quality products (www.toyota-global.com).
Recent Financial Statements
The company has a successful financial year with revenues collected in the year 2015
adding up to two hundred and sixty billion dollars. The revenue was collected through
worldwide sales and effective competition in the market. The company’s most recent profits
added up to six billion dollars which is a record that makes it to grow as a result of the profits
and revenues gained. The company grew from the early 1990s competing with other similar
companies up to the year 2012 and 2013 when it was making most sales and history recorded.
Compared to others in the same industry this company is performing much better and in the
United States it has been rated as the third best profit making automobile organization beating
others that have been in the market. In many nations their cars have been imported and there is a
slogan that states that, “the car in front of you is always a Toyota.” This means that the company
is effective in competition and has achieved its main objective of making profits (Lukac, 2005).
Employees Working in this Organization
The company has employed various employees with different skills and techniques and
currently the total number of employees in this organization is 338,875. They vary from

engineers, accountants and other specialists who all play an important role within the
organization towards achievement of goals and objectives.
Marketing and Challenges Faced by the Company
Toyota is performing effectively in the market and has achieved major goals through
innovations and with these developments it has competitive advantages over others both locally
and beyond the boundaries in international markets.
Various obstacles faced by this company are competition from other companies which reduces
sales and affect the amount of profits which are earned. There are other car brands which pose a
great challenge to this company and to deal with this problem, Toyota comes up with new
models which will be effective in competition. Another method used is improving on the existing
models and replacing them with better and quality models.
Toyota’s worst moment was in 2009 when more than six million cars had a problem
which was as a result of failure in the engine leading to unnecessary acceleration. The company
made losses and the only way to deal with this challenge was to deal with the engine malfunction
and offer the vehicles at a relative price to win the clients who had now lost faith with these
automobiles. With the solutions developed four years later the company was at its peak with
more to offer to the public.
