Metrics help in evaluating the success of an organizations total rewards program. For example,
sales performance metrics are used to reward those employees who achieve top sales in the
company, and the customer service metrics, are used to assess the number of complaints and the
areas that need improvement in order to keep the customers satisfied with the services. (Shrm
2015) “HR metrics can help pinpoint where human capital issues exist and allow HR staff to
monitor trends. Information from an appropriate HR metrics can be used to assess, plan and
improve HR as well as to contribute to achieving business strategies and objectives” (Shrm,
2015).

Question 1. Metrics are measurements that are used to access a company’s performance.
According to Investopia (n.d.), “Metrics are parameters or quantitative assessment used for
measurement, comparison or to track performance or production” (para. 1).
Two metrics that I am considering for my presentation are employee engagement and employee
turnover. These two metrics will be helpful to use because they will reflect the effectiveness of
Chipotle’s total rewards package. According to Sorenson (2013), “By intentionally focusing on
measuring and managing employee engagement … companies can gain a competitive advantage
that will keep them moving forward” (para. 14). Measuring employee turnover will show this
company the number of departures, how often, and reasons why they are experiencing this
situation.
