Read the samples, and select the one that is most similar to your writing. Writing Sample 1When I was kid, my mom was always sick. From that time I learned how to cook, how to clean the house, how to manage myself. Sometimes life is difficult to mange or to knew wich way to go. But we have to learn how to fine our way to have a good life. While I was growing up, my mother always said,”You have to be strong in life.” I try my best be happy with my family, be happy with life. In my life I want to learn a lot of things. Education is my goal. Writing Sample 2The lesson I have learned from my family, from my Mom, was a lesson about a positive mindset. When I got a visa and was about to leave my native country I was very worried and kind of upset. I had liked everything about my hometown, like a Russian bath, our garden outside the town, my home, nature and all many other native things. But now I was on halfway to leave everything I like for is not known for how long. I was in perplexity. At that moment, I have had spoke with my Mom who told me very important things I still remember. I got support from my Mom who said that I should be more positive. It’s doesn’t heart to see new places, even though you had to cross the ocean to see them. Also, she said that one day her Mom said to her that all members of the family shouldn’t live in one place. I got into a strong belief of what my Mom said. My mood calmed down and I got that positive mindset that helps me to stay and live in a new country. I was never anymore worried about things happens I just learn to take it, take everything that is going to happen take everything that is going to happen and be open to new things. Writing Sample 3The most valuable thing that my parents teach me is to be supportive. My parents are kind of person who always support my interest and stand behind me. When I was a child, they would communicate with me about my dream in my birthday, and gave me financial support, including taking me to piano classes, buying literature books, which became the motivation in my path. However, the most impressed one is the thing happened in 2017, which I decided to go abroad. I still remembered that day. It was a hot summer, after I talked with my teacher and counselor about 2 hours, I finally made up my mind, and decided to learn education in the United States. As soon as the meeting end, I announced this significant information to my parents. Surprisingly, both of them were silent for a long time after hearing this, and came to bedroom without explanation. I stood in in-situ, and waited final result nervously until the sun goes down. Finally, they opened the door, and told me come in with heavy and serious tone. “Mom and I know you are a steady and hard working girl,” father said, “And we always try best to respect your idea and you your wonderful life, so, this time is same.” I was so moved after heard these sentences and rushed to hug them. Because I knew, indulging me study abroad must bring a lot pressure on them. They needed to spend the amount of money to pay my annual tuition and expensive living cost. Besides, I am a only daughter in their life. If my living place had a long distance from them, they would miss me of all the time and worried about me. Writing Sample 4An individual whom I respect and taught me not to hesitate against challenges is my father, Yong Shin. Shin was born in 1974 in Busan, South Korea. Growing up, he was just a normal kid who loved watching drama and films and gradually started to gain an interest in acting. At the age of 20, he entered university as a Theater and Film major. During his time in university, he joined a small theatrical troupe and shot a couple of short films to take the first step of reaching his goal. After graduation, he made the challenging decision to move to Seoul, the capital of South Korea, to search for more opportunities. After successfully settling in Seoul, he decided to not only take up acting, but almost everything related to acting as much as he could such as mime or pantomime. Nine years later, he married my mother, Hyoun Jin Kim, and I was born a year after their marriage. My mom was a director who ran an art academy and my father became vice director of the academy as the number of students grew. He served as vice director during the daytime and focused on acting at night. Additionally, he had to make another challenging decision after he realized that acting alone wouldn’t be able to support the family. He then started a new journey to become a bubble artist and he became the first bubble artist in Korea. Even to this day, he is constantly challenging himself and embarking on new journeys. Although I was only four or five years old while he was working to become a bubble artist for the very first time in Korea, I remember him struggling and failing repeatedly until dawn. He didn’t give up and I think if he never challenged himself, his life would’ve been completely different. In 2017, I was on my way to middle school and discussed with my parents that I wanted to go to the United States to study abroad. My dad asked me a couple of questions and afterwards, he told me that he would support my dream. He even persuaded my mom who opposed my dream. I heard about my dad’s story three years ago and now I am so proud of him. Thanks to my dad, whenever I am facing new challenges, I keep reminding myself that I am his son and that gives me the confidence to move forward.
