To collaborate with your Small Team group, use the Small Team Group Discussion Forum
Building interpersonal communication skills incorporates practicing speaking and listening skills as well as
giving feedback. To be as objective as possible in this process, we need a framework for evaluating each
other’s presentations. So the idea for this assignment is to create a grading rubric we will use to evaluate one
of your presentations due later in the course. You will collaborate to create the achievement levels and criteria
for a rubric based on the effective presentation materials in this week’s module and any other resources you
feel are important (e.g. concepts you pull ahead from chapter 7).
The idea is to experience preparation and execution of presentations while you are considering what the
evaluation criteria should be for future presentations. Do your work on creating this rubric within your
assigned small team group. When the group feels like they are ready to submit the final version for the
participation grade, submit the link to the rubric using this assignment. Only one person on the team needs to
submit for the team.
Your actual grade for the assignment will come from the instructor based on the quality of your participation
and collaboration with team members to create the rubric.

I think the Rubric looks great. Are we all adding our own Rubric and combining them all
together? Or are we signing off on this one?

I think it might be easier to all modify and contribute to this one rather than combining. What do
you think? If we want to start from another one, I’m good with that too!

Thanks for confirming!
I think we could use some terms from Chapter 7 to help enhance some of these categories. What
does everyone think?

Hi Vanessa, I just added my thoughts to the rubric. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

I think those are great suggestions! I added a row for Time Management. Will it let you put
bullet points on that row? Information Overload could probably go within organization and
Noise in Speaking?

Hi Vanessa,
I looked through Chapter 7 and thought we could use “Noise” or “information overload” as one of the categories or subcategories
in the rubric. Specifically, “presenting too much material”. Perhaps, we can also use “time” as one of the categories to be mindful of (if
the speaker met the minimum speaking time). The rubric would not allow me to make these changes. Please let me know what you
think of my suggestions.
Thank you,
Malissa
