the protagonists of these stories. Choose one of the female supporting characters in one work,
and discuss her impact on the evolution of the story. What’s her role, and why is she
important?
4 Transformations are important in The Metamorphoses, and they happen as punishments or
rewards. Life is full of dramatic and not so dramatic transformations. In your discussion,
examine whether or not a transformation is a positive or negative consequence of living. In
other words, how do the transformations in these works reflect transformations we see in our
