Reflecting on former Vice President Al Gore in his book and film, “An Inconvenient
Truth”, I believe that global warming is a moral issue because, for instance, how president
Donald Trump changed Obama’s climate change action plan which was signing the Paris
Agreement. President Donald Trump neglected the effects of this decision on poor people and
making these decisions without taking the poor into account. Global warming has high effects on
poor people, they would have limited resources to survive climate change or protecting
themselves from the changes as having the finance to have home insurance protecting their
homes from natural disasters. Secondly, It is a moral issue because what does not affect us, will
affect our future generation as Al Gore quoted “What we take for granted might not be here for
our children”. It is eye opening to our moral opinions about global warming, some of us may not
be alive for more serious consequence effects of global warming but, our children will surely be
alive and it would be selfish and unvirtuous of us to have them live through the consequence of
our reckless actions that lead to a climate that is irreversible. Lastly, it is a moral issue because it
is out of greed to some people besides ignorance, for instance, big brand companies will not use
more environment-friendly resources because it might cost them a little more. Without naming
companies, It will surely make a big difference if big brand companies took a step to have
environment-friendly productions and it will not cause them to lose as much as they make.

I do believe that global warming is also a political issue, as I aforementioned, President
Donald Trump taking out what Obama advocated on his run in the White House for the climate
change policies. This is where politics takes its place in Global Warming by the help of the
Congress legislatures that are passing bills and policies by the president. Former President
Barack Obama signed the Paris Agreement April 22, 2016. The Paris Agreement is an agreement
which funds billions of dollars to a “Green Climate Fund” which funds green projects to foreign
countries. President Donald Trump then withdrew the United States from the agreement in 2017.
This is where it is also a political issue because not the only the President took part of the
decision to withdraw from the Paris agreement but it is also the congress part on the decision.
Another political issue is how the United States has been highly affected for the past years from
climate change from the devastating hurricanes. This concludes a big part in politics because this
where the president, senates, governors, and all congress make decisions on how to fund and
manage the damages that were caused by the hurricanes because this will result in affecting the
economy. To understand and clarify the chemistry global warming, it is a set of changes to the
earth’s climate that is for the long-term effects. The greenhouse effect is the main cause of global
warming when certain heat is trapped in our Earth’s atmosphere from radiation and that radiation
causes our planet’s surface to rise. Greenhouse Gasses include Methane, Nitrous Oxide, Carbon
Dioxide and many gasses that creates damaging heat to our planet. Methane is a result from
agricultural practices released from organic waste such as the decomposition of Cattle, Landfills,
etc. which is said to have more potential than carbon dioxide. Carbon Dioxide is emitted every
time Natural and other carbon-rich fossils are consumed and burned. This is found in our cars,
electricity and many aspects that run our lives. Nitrous Oxide is released from the bacteria in the
soil in the use of nitrogen-rich fertilizers in the modern agriculture practices. Additionally,

Fluorinated gases which are hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons, and sulfur hexafluoride, and
other chemicals that include fluorine, These gases are widely used in the everyday household
uses such as refrigerators, air-conditioners, etc.
To conclude, Al Gore’s writing fits to a lot of what is happening now and climate change
has become a moral issue as he presented in his writing and I hope everyone strives to make a
difference in this matter because it is a long-term issue that we can reverse and to restate what Al
Gore quoted “We can no longer afford to view global warming as a political issue – rather it is
the biggest moral challenge facing our global civilization.”.
