PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROCESS
1
Information system and design is a complicated and simulating process in an organization
that is highly dependent upon by project managers and system analysts in development and launch
of a new project (Valacich, 2015). Project management is an essential process in the development
of new systems and approaches. G&E Company is preparing a bid to build a new stadium,
Greendale baseball, with 47,000 seats. The construction of the stadium begins on the 3 rd of July
2017 and ends at the start of 2020 season. A penalty clause of $100,000 per day is charged if the
project is delayed after the date of the agreement. The project schedule plan, however, proves that
the construction of the new stadium will be completed before the start of 2014 season. This paper
presents the scope and challenging phase of the development of new stadium.
Greendale is preparing to build a new baseball 47,000 seat stadium. The project is set to
begin on 3rd of July, 2017 and must be completed in time for the start of the 2020 season. The
primary objective of this project is to be completed in time and under the stipulated costs. Ideally,
the contract specifies a penalty fee of $100,000 per day once the deadline has passed. This fine
represents the 5% of the anticipated profit from the project development by G&E Company.
According to Keith, the company’s president, the project will result in a net of $2 million. The
project would also improve prospects of the company such as luxury boxes, jumping boxes.
The main tasks of the Greendale baseball stadium project are categorized into; initial
planning, project management activities and construction of the stadium. These tasks are presented
in the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) recreated in the Microsoft project. The success of the

project is also driven by both staffing and non-staffing resources. The staffing resources entail;
project manager, system analyst, business consultants, project engineers, designers, developers
and the general team members. The non-staffing resources comprise of project expenses,
mechanical materials for construction, implementation tools, and testing techniques.
The most challenging phase of the success of this project is the planning phase. This phase
is highly dependent on the initiation phase. It involves the preparation of the project development.
In this phase, the project goals and objectives are reviewed, and the estimated duration is
determined. Each task is also defined for better allocation of the available staffing and non-staffing
resources (Burke, 2013). The project schedule is also established, and the main strategies to be
considered are provided. This phase can, however, present various challenges which be both costly
and time consuming to the project team.
The challenges presented by the planning phase can be mitigated by proper review and
evaluation of the initiation phase. For a favorable project schedule, determination of strategies and
allocation of resources, the project team should have sufficient amount of requirement, for a start.
The project scope should possess the concepts of simplicity and accuracy for easier determination
of planning specifications (Valacich, 2015). Proper evaluation of project charter should also be set
as a priority during the development and lunch of a project.
Project management is an essential concept in creation, development, and maintenance of
a new infrastructure. It involves initiation, planning, execution, control, and closing. G&E

completion of the project would offer a profit of $2 million.
