My name is Ann and I am the head of the Physical Anthropology department. I am writing this email
because I was recently made aware of some impending cuts that will be made and that those cuts will
be to the Anthropology department. Anthropology is the study of humans in the past and present while

the medical department understand how to approach these patients as well as how to explain to them
why our medicine works and can help them. Our department is crucial in helping bridge the gap
between two different medical practices and will help bring us closers to a healthy world. It is extremely
important for us to approach this issue with cultural relativism. The only way to forward our mission is
to see and understand health and medicine on the patient’s terms and from their cultural standpoint.
Only when we do this will we be able to help them understand our medicine and how it can cure them.
I truly hope you reconsider the decision to cut Anthropology jobs, since we are a vital part in the success
of this company and its mission.
