Prospero’s Bookstore – Interactive Script
WORDS ON SCREEN: Welcome to Prospero’s Books!
The view fades from black and you hear the ringing of a store entrance bell. You are in the front
entrance of Prospero’s bookstore. The camera scans the room. To your immediate left is a staircase going down.
Ahead of you is a large wall of books that leads to a cashier, who is surrounded by more stacks of books, with a
large bookshelf behind him. Just to our right are two large tables, with neatly displayed books. Slightly behind the
tables is a path, formed between rows of books on the floor that leads to more bookshelves.
You can hear the natural sounds of the street. The camera’s pan of the room finishes returns to the longshot cashier in the center. He looks up from his book, but doesn’t get up.
CASHIER:
Oh, hey there! Come on in and have a look around! We just put some great
books on the center table, and I think you’ll find some changes to the other floors as
well.
The camera moves forward, and everything blurs. Three buttons appear:

the left corner is a wall of hundreds of cheep, small paperback books, a creepy-looking MAN in the corner is
touching them all and pretending he doesn’t see you. In the center is a restroom. To the right of that is a row of
shelves carved into the limestone wall, with stacked hard-back books, above the shelves are labels, “MEMOIR AND
BIOGRAPHY,” “HISTORY,” “FOREIGN LANGUAGES.”
The camera moves forward and everything blurs. Three buttons appear:
