Library and
Teaching Project
Assignment 2: Library and Teaching Project
The purpose of this assignment is to enable you to think critically
about the university as a research and teaching institution. The best
way to get an idea of what it means to work and teach at a university
is to experience it yourself. To this end, you will pick a topic that
interests you, research it in the library and then teach it to the class in
about 5-7 minutes. Following your in-class presentation, I want you to
reflect critically on your experience as a researcher and teacher. How
did you go about obtaining the information you needed? Why did you
present the information the way you did? What did you learn from
this experience? This critical reflection (1000 words) has to be
submitted in hard copy at the beginning of Week 10.
Thematic Focus and Presentation
• You can pick any topic that interests you and which you want to find
out more about.
• Your presentation should be structured around a general
assumption that is often associated with your topic which you want to
debunk by employing the Socratic method of inquiry.
