Mini project 4: Regression
Project instructions: Software is required for all parts of these exercises. Please copy and paste
relevant output from the software and type or write the answers to the questions next to the output. If
you are asked to perform a hypothesis test, make sure you include all 4 parts we discussed in class.
Make sure your full name and team number are on your paper.
Software is required for all questions. Credit will only be given if this is done and turned in by November
9th.
Use the data provided in the google drive mini project 4 folder to produce the following output using
software. This is the same data we’ve been working with in class
1. Make a scatterplot with Self-Concept on the horizontal axis and GPA on the vertical axis,
WITHOUT the regression line.
2. Make a scatterplot with Self-Concept on the horizontal axis and GPA on the vertical axis, WITH the
regression line.
3. Perform a Regression Analysis to get the output to test whether the relationship between selfconcept and GPA is significant. You don’t have to do the four steps; just obtain all the output you
need so we can do that in class. Be sure to obtain the following:
• Residual plot
• Normal probability plot
• Residuals (these will be stored in the excel spreadsheet with the data)
Make sure that you copy and paste the residual plot, normal probability plot and at least the summary
output and the table containing the t-value, p-value and one set of lower 95% and upper 95%. You don’t
need to copy the ANOVA table or the actual residual values.
3. Use the residuals you obtained to make a histogram of the residuals.
All your output should be copied and pasted in a neatly organized manner so all results easily seen. Leave
a little bit of space around or after each item, but be concise; you should be able to neatly fit all results on
1.5 pages, leaving the bottom half of the second page blank to answer questions asked during class. After
we use your output to answer the questions, you will be turning it in. In total, you will have 5 plots and 2
tables.
