The surveillance system we offer to consumers will enhance the security of
businesses and homes worldwide by not only deterring criminals from burglarizing a
home or business, but also providing peace of mind to the building owners. We offer an
un-comparable fingerprint technology to reduce the amount of burglaries. With upgraded
security on all entrances, the crime rate will drop exponentially in cities around the globe.
The camera system automatically uses facial recognition software to analyze
everybody’s face and check it against a database of mug shots. This will enable police to
identify the suspect much quicker, compared to sending out a poor quality photo to the
public with hopes of receiving a tip of who that person may be. Our fingerprint-based
technology that can be incorporated into buildings entranceways worldwide will enable
officers to catch thieves quicker. Whenever someone wants to enter the building, the
user’s fingerprint is checked and verified. If the user’s fingerprint cannot be matched to a
fingerprint in the system’s memory after three tries, the police are automatically
dispatched to the home, and the door will no longer operate until it can be reset.
These incredible new technologies will not only enable cities to be safer, it will
drastically lower the manpower that is needed to investigate crimes. This will reduce the
overtime pay that officers are paid because their workload will be reduced. Every single
crime will be linked to a suspect via facial recognition or fingerprint; no more long hours
attempting to identify an individual. The amount of money that will be saved by local
governments will be astronomical.

premium security package is worth every penny”. We also had a handful of residents

2. Our company chose to combat rising property crime in Baltimore City. With our
fingerprint scanner equipped door knobs, facial recognition cameras and motion sensors,

decline. At first, our products will not stop crime completely, but it will make it harder

3. The technologies that will be needed for these solutions are the security systems that
we will provide for our customers. Items like motion sensors, security cameras, facial
recognition, and fingerprinting scanners. Motion sensors are will be used at all doorways
and windows to let the owner of the home that someone is present in that area. The
security cameras will be put all around the house and will require people to have a
security monitor put somewhere in their house with a firewall protection for hacking
purposes. The facial recognition requires people to put all required members of the family
to take a picture of their face for the software to recognize who they are. Fingerprint
scanners require people to put in their thumbprints into a database for the security system
to have for backup in case of a hack. All of these systems will have firewalls so no one
will be able to hack into the systems and unlock doors etc.
4. At the moment, we really only have one other major competitor, which is ADT. They
are similar to us due to the fact that we are both home security companies. We have the
upper hand because we have unique equipment that ADT doesn’t have such as fingerprint
scanners, facial recognition, motion sensors, and security scanners.
5. Our technology doesn’t require new infrastructure or technology since things like
fingerprint scanners, motion sensors, security cameras, and facial recognition technology
all already exist. But our company is unique in the fact that we are using these things
together for home security, as they are usually used in different fields.
6. Our projected estimated cost is 10-20 million dollars. The software needed is our
security software itself that will allow us to contact the police in a home break in or
something along those lines. The hardware is all the technology that we provide such as
the cameras and fingerprint scanners. We will need a decent amount to offer at the
beginning for having a number of that certain product but as the company moves along
we will earn more stock for that product.
7. A partnership with local and federal law enforcement agencies is necessary for the
facial recognition features. With access to databases that hold characteristics of criminals,
we can match the face and fingerprint of a suspect that has been on the camera’s sight or
touched the doorknob. This will reduce the man-hours required to identify an individual
because the work is done before the police are even alerted thanks to our innovative
products. Another helpful relationship would be with the local government. With them on
our team, we could replace traffic light cameras with our products to help identify
criminals in public areas as well.
8. The laws that need to be considered is for our technology to be patented and
copyrighted for it to be specifically ours. Also, for our customers we provide a privacy
policy so our worker will not be able to abuse their powers and access customer’s camera
feeds, but if such things happen that person will be charged immediately with a felony.
9. The people that will be most impacted by our product are the people of Baltimore City.
This is our target area because we know by looking at the crime statistics that property
crime in this area is very high. Our product is home security system so it will help the
people of this area protect their homes and businesses against property crime.
10. I think the only side effects of our products would be positive ones. Our technology
will directly help reduce property crimes in Baltimore City considering our product is
solely about home security. People would in hand feel safer when at home at just in
general. The only negative side effect could be that people might feel like their privacy is
being violated through the facial recognition software because there are cameras looking
at your face every time you walk in the door. But hopefully we could get them to realize
that doing this is for their own safety and they might come around to it.
11. We plan on purchasing American made materials and assembling our systems and
products here in the United States. We also plan to apply for a patent and trademark
licensing to protect our company’s products and services from being copied. As stated
above, we will attempt to create a relationship with law enforcement agencies to add to
our resources.

EdTech is an educational technologies start-up, currently based in the Baltimore Metropolitan
area. At EdTech, we are committed to providing the community with a digital center for learning, by
connecting teachers, students, and parents in an engaging educational platform: our new app, BrainGain
Learning.
Our target region is the surrounding community, the Baltimore Metropolitan area. Within this
region, the most common barriers within the education system include inconsistencies in school budgets,
as well as a general lack of community resources for students and families. In the curriculum, there is a
lack of accessibility to textbooks and databases; parents also report feeling disconnected and/or
unwelcomed in the school communities (Citizens Planning and Housing Association, Inc.). A third major
issue is a lack of community building activities for students and families, such as extracurricular activities
and family engagement activities.
BrainGain Learning addresses all of these issues, and more. The application we’ve created has a
variety of features to engage students, teachers, and parents alike, and create a space for both learning and
documenting student progress. The BrainGain Learning app features both a private and public messaging
system, allowing students to interact and collaborate with one another, as well as remain in contact their
teachers. Teachers can post assignments and activities online for students, and online student submissions
are environmentally friendly, and make grading more efficient. Parents are provided with access to their
student’s grades, allowing for a more engaged community of parents. We believe that providing parents
with the ability to watch students’ progress will not only foster a stronger connection to the school
system, but also provide parents with valuable insight into their child’s learning process, and allow them
to offer students additional support for their education.
Through the BrainGain Learning App, students also are provided free online access to a variety of
databases, including a virtual library for textbooks and recreational reading materials, eliminating the
constant struggle to provide materials tailored to the curriculum. An additional feature addresses
community engagement as a whole: a synced school calendar. The calendar would include schoolsponsored events, club and team meetings for students, and community engagement meetings for parents
(such as PTA, etc), and even local educational and recreational opportunities available to students, such as
local library events.
As a whole, BrainGain Learning is an invaluable resource in creating a more connected
community that values and fosters education. BrainGain Learning is unique in its holistic approach to
education, providing resources, assignments, grades and feedback, all in one place, with the addition of

Business Description
Our business is looking to change the way students and parents tackle school. With technology
being the new way to find grades, submit assignments, and check schedules, we have designed an
application that everyone needs. Our business is looking to bring a closer connection between the
students, the schools, and the parents. We believe that by further involving parents in the education of
their children, as well as connecting students to their teachers directly, we would see a rise in grades and
graduation rates. In turn, this rise in the quality of education would allow for young people to find their
place in the growing workforce and allow for a proper education of the next generation of young people.
We will begin our focus with the Baltimore metropolitan area, an area where many schools could benefit
from a system based on parent-teacher-student communication. Our business will stay above the
competition by making sure our students come first. We will look for feedback on our application and
always make sure our technology is fully up to date. This will ensure our customers stay happy, and can
consistently use our app. Our mission is to provide students with the means to be successful, in order for
them to live long, happy lives.
Our product that we have designed is a smart device application that can be used to advance
productivity in schools and help students further their education. Our application will allow students to
directly interact with their classmates and teachers through both a class public message system and a
private message system. Teachers will have the ability to assign and accept assignments through the
application. This system is more convenient for the students and teachers, and as a bonus, each paper that
the students can submit online rather than print out is environmentally conscious. The grades that come in
through the application can either be automatically graded by the app, or manually graded by the teacher,
and then these grades are viewable with the application. A parental control feature allows for a student’s
parent or guardian to access a student’s grades and assignments. This gives an extra layer of guidance
from the parent that will encourage good grades from the students. Another way our application could be
utilized is through the integration of a student’s extracurricular activities. It will keep track of the student’s
clubs and activities and recommend clubs based on their interests. By knowing what classes the student is
taking and what activities they are participating in, the application will include a built in schedule which
can have events added to or taken away from by the student or parents as needed. In order to appeal to the
largest audience possible the application will be free of charge and available for all to use.
Analysis of Target Area
EdTech is based in the Baltimore Metropolitan area. Education in the Baltimore area is
lacking in some areas. Education is an infrastructure that must be thriving in order for the area
can strive economically. According to CPHA, some of the primary issues in the school system
are community and parental involvement, teachers and school staff, curriculum with proper
