Current Events Assignments (4) – (100 pts):
Students will present four module written analyses of current events in business, which will
be graded on a 25 point scale. These one page reports, due at start of class on scheduled
dates should summarize the article selected, evaluate its significance and relate the material
to our course of study. Students will select one current event article from each of the
following periodicals: Business Week, Forbes, Fortune, The New York Times, The Wall
Street Journal and Financial Times. The purpose of this assignment is to link what you
learned from the chapters and quizzes with what is happening in the real world. A copy of
the article must be submitted with the analysis. Articles will be randomly selected for
class discussion.
Assignment Format:
Your paper should be within one page, single spaced, 12-pt. Times Roman font, following
APA format. Each current event assignment should include the four parts below:
1) Main idea of the article
2) Analysis/connections of those ideas to our MGMT textbook topics
3) Summary of your key takeaways/managerial implications/application suggestions
4) One or two questions that can be raised based on the information from the article
Grading Rubric: Each current event assignment worth 25 points (5 pts per criteria).
