Empagliflozin: A sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor for treatment of type 2

protein in the kidneys that increases excretion of glucose to the urine in treatment of Type II
diabetes. The results showed that this medication helped to lower glycosylated hemoglobin
values in Type II diabetics, which is a test that shows long-term control of blood glucose levels.
It also showed reductions in body weight and blood pressure, however it showed an increase in
urinary and genital infections. In my opinion, the article was reliable and seemed to report their conclusions with
honesty. There was an addendum since the original publishing that included some additional
side effects that had been reported to the FDA in association with this medication, and the
authors also stressed the importance of further research of this medication, particularly in
combination with other drugs, to ensure safety. Personally, I learned a lot from this article in both about the drug itself as well as how the
kidneys work in excreting glucose and how it would be beneficial for those with Type II
diabetes. I do not think that patients would find this particular research article helpful, however,
as it is filled with scientific and medication terminology that made it somewhat difficult to read.

This article is introductory yet in-depth resource material for the common asthma disease.
It is more about deep thinking of asthma than just general data. It gives the demographics, causes
and symptoms and also the risk factors. Asthma has become world’s most widespread disease
and which affects millions of people in the United States alone. Irritants such as animal dander,
wood smoke, dust mites, air pollution, sprays or cigarettes commonly trigger asthma.
Asthma inflames the airways of the patient which eventually leads to decline of the
oxygenated being supplied in the body system. There exists various methods of medicating the
illness and are based on the exacerbation experienced by the patient. For cases which are mild,
they can be cured using puffs of albuterol, while the cases which are severe may be treated using
both oral steroid and bronchodilator. Continuous medication can be partnered together with the
effort to educate people taking care of the patients on proper approach and medication of the
disease.
The article also provides that almost all asthma sufferers have allergies and over 25
percent of people with hay fever also develop asthma. The antibodies in the blood are triggered
by the allergic reactions which lead to the inflammation of airways which is associated with
asthma. Asthma has three main features and which include; airway obstruction, inflammation

and airway irritability. Inflammation is the prolonged damage which the disease causes to the
lungs. Obstruction is the upper airway blockage which causes difficulties for the air to go
through and to reach the lungs. Airway irritability occurs when the airway reacts to the common
triggers like the pollen, smoke and dust.
On my opinion, this is a very resourceful and useful article because it provides plenty of
information which is necessary for every individual to know about asthma.
