Introduction
MovieFlix, being an internet-based company, faces challenges in gaining a competitive
advantage over its competitors. This creates the need for them to adopt a modern information
system to ensure that their processes run more smoothly. To handle the competition from other
companies and to ensure a smooth running of its operations, movieFlix should consider adopting
a MEMSQL database system.
Why adopt a MEMSQL database system?
One of the main reasons why MovieFlix is facing stiff competitions is because they are
unable to offer differentiated services to their customers and the failure to use up-to-date
database systems. The company, thus, needs to use a database system that gives their application
a better performance. Being an IT-based firm, data is crucial to ensure the satisfaction of their
customers. A MEMSQL, unlike other traditional database systems, does not reside on a single
server which makes it strong to manage large volumes of data. It I built for high performances
allows for horizontal scalability and provides an easier way to maintain large as well as highvelocity data. This is because it offers real-time analytics by focusing on real-time data which is

Nagaraj & Duggirala, 2015). Consequently, it helps save time and reduces complexities

experienced by customers hence making it more convenient for users to interact. More so, the
system facilitates to stream multiple inputs in a parallel manner hence doing away with repetitive

customers better services which will consequently boost their loyalty. This translates to an

analytical queries as well as enhanced online operations. It can run ML algorithms, in an SQL

by the company. Proper decisions would be important to ensure the company utilizes resources

Cost-Benefit Analysis
MEMSQL is mostly used in organization with big datasets and requires some
specifications in terms of memory and flash or disk capacity, CPU, and the capability of the
available network (Raj, Raman, Nagaraj & Duggirala, 2015). Each of the given resources affects
the performance of the database hence the need for MovieFlix to update their systems to ensure
they are compatible with the system. This can prove to be an expensive venture.
In MovieFlix, which is a company requiring a large database, MemSQL offers customers
benefits such as high speed, scalability, and simplicity hence offering a Big Data solution to the
company. MemSQL also offers exemplary performance while only minimal tuning is required.
The schema charges are also very flexibility hence making MemSQL one of the most powerful
and agile database. Also, MEMSQL enhances the performance of commodity hardware through
the use of a distributed computing model. This ensures that all the available system resources are
optimized that makes use of all available system resources. The MemSQL architecture is
designed more simply hence is easier to set up, maintain and scale hence greatly reducing
maintenance costs (Raj, Raman, Nagaraj & Duggirala, 2015). With all these qualities, MovieFlix
will be able to win more customers and consequently be able to raise more revenue.

MovieFlix is a firm that is finding new ways to grow in the market despite the stiff
rivalry that exists in the market. The reasons as highlighted in the SWOT analysis of the
company which is lack of enough technological tools that could assist them in their platform,
lack of staff members with expertise such as their competing firms and also the lack the financial
muscle to compete with already setup companies such as Apple Inc. and Microsoft Corporation.
The strategic planning process will consist of close to six operations to achieve it (Barrows,
2017). These methods are proposed mission, goals, analyze external issues, and analyze internal
matters, a SWOT analysis summary, and formulation of a strategy.
The strategic planning team that will deal with the execution of the plan will be a diverse
team that consists of fifteen members who will bring on the table their different knowledge and
expertise to map out the program (Ott, C.,Kzatz, D.& Thomas, J, 2009). The group includes the
upper management of the firm, the middle managers, the supervisors me among them and the
facilitator. Hence each of the members will be in charge of a sub-team that will be responsible
for executing a particular task that will facilitate the achievement of the mission and the goal of
the company (Victoria, 2017). The members of the upper management will represent what the
whole company operations. The middle managers this are individuals that are responsible for the
execution of every detail in the mapping out of the strategic plan. The supervisors are also vital
in the team because they are the ones that are responsible for the execution of the technical
aspects to provide quality products and services.
In the top management, they entail the Human resource manager who they will team up
with the facilitator to improve the skill level of their staff members. This can be enhanced
through the introduction of skill-based programs that will assist them to achieve excellent skills
that will enable them to compete favorably with their rivals. The general manager together with

the middle management will be responsible for the execution of the business ethics in the
company this will enable the firm to stay relevant. These can be achieved through branding,
producing quality products and finally use of the latest technological tools. The manager in
charge of research and development team together with the supervisors can assist in research and
development where the staff members will engage in consistent research and development
programs that will enable the firm to compete in the market favorably despite stiff competition.
Under the finance team, the financial manager together with other managers might analyze
methods to reduce the operational costs. These can be achieved by instituting techniques that will
increase the cash flow and at the same time reduce the expenses.
Hence, explaining the above processes if strictly adhered to the teams it will help to
eradicate the weaknesses, reduce the threats and maximize the opportunities that exist. Since it is
a media and internet-based firm, it will venture into opportunities such as online advertisement
and promotions which will increase the cash flow in the business. Utilization of English
languages in their products is another opportunity this will improve their customer base to an
international perspective (Victoria, 2017).
To conclude if the three groups stated above implement their strategic plan efficiently it
will revive the company back to a competitive ground. These will enable the company to achieve
customer loyalty; employees will attain proper compensation and motivation packages. Hence,
for the plan to work efficiently, there needs to be an excellent communication within the team,
charismatic leaders that will steer the side towards the objectives and the mission that is set out
by their side. The company should develop ways to design ways to reduce the market
competition buy looking for new opportunity to venture in such as the advertisement since it is a
media and online based company.

The table above lists factors that are directly influential to the business of the company in
both ways; positively or negatively. The statements described as strengths refer to the properties
of Movieflix that has guaranteed its survival in the hugely competitive corporate world as well as
ensuring its profitability over time. As for the weaknesses, they’re the factors that despite the
firm’s success so far, has tirelessly fought to bog it down hence perhaps without them the
company would be a better place. Threats, however, refer to the issues that could evolve into the
company’s weaknesses if not adequately and efficiently addressed. Opportunities, on the other
hand, refer to the chances that if well utilized could result in tremendous socio-political success
for the outfit (Bohari et al. 2017).
The analysis conducted in the form of the table above is pure to find out the areas of the
corporation that needs more attention. With the sectors analyzed and determined, it is easier to
focus on one end with the aim of upholding its consistency while looking towards the other to
ensure it doesn’t bring more harm than good to the organization. Finally, planning in regards to
the future is undertaken based on what is more likely to be an asset while back tailing possible

The advent of technology has caused a state of affairs where information access is a walk
in the park and interaction between people is even more relaxed. Movieflix itself is a creation of
such standards and therefore ought to be in a better position than its contemporary adversaries to
understand that competition is real. Unfortunately, nothing can be done to do away with market
competition, so it has to be overcome just as it lives amongst financial entities.
The first step as in any corporation would be involving key stakeholders and decision
makers in charting the best path forward once it becomes evident that increased market
competition could be disastrous to the company. The second step would be aligning current
revenue and assets to the standards of the market within which it finds itself. The remaining
assets can then be used to achieve products that prioritize the demands of the environment within
which the company operates (Hollensen, 2015).
Movieflix, as an internet-based company should be on top of it-literally when it comes to
research. The research should continuously be geared towards development programs by the
market desires as they are in a better position considering their research to determine what the
customer desires. Such a move guarantees the ability to authentically deliver products that are
unique to the customer’s taste ultimately elevating their place in the market.
Importance of an efficient and coordinated management can in no way be underrated in
the push to have a more competitive franchise. By their positions as overseers and decision
makers as well as coordinators. Managers also give way forward, act as role models to the
employees and most importantly make business decisions hence it’s a good idea to close shop if
the managers of a company aren’t ethical, practical and creative as well as being managers. In
