In China, we have a saying called “Yu Qiang Ze Qiang,” meaning that a person look very normal
when he go into a full of excellent people in the environment will inspire his potential, let him
become much stronger person, and I am such a person. Back to China, my weakest subject is
English, so when I decided to study in the United States, people around me felt that I was crazy. I
am not afraid, I am in a comfortable environment for too long, I feel I am being murder by
comfortably and boring. I need a new environment and new challenges to stimulate me, all the
difficulties will make me stronger. And now, in US schools, my best academic subjects are
Economics and English Literature, both of which require a very good English foundation to learn
and understand. This is the way how I respond to people’s questions which is make the facts
speak. Many people around me do not want go to universities like UC, they think the course in
UC is very difficult, there is a lot of pressure. I think that is exactly why I aspire to UC and being
excited about being with smart people. I like challenges, I like stress, stress makes me awake and
it pushed me to go further. Maybe I do not seem to be a perfect student nowadays, but when I
have a chance, I can use facts to let people know me.
UC is no doubt that the United States is very famous and important universities, I think that the
meaning of existence is not just the elite training of personnel in all aspects, is more important is
to make the country believe the truth, let the country can embark on a correct path of
development, This is my understanding of elite social responsibility. I believe UC looking for
students not only think of how much income after graduation, UC is looking for someone can
make our society better in some way. When we get out of school, we are UC’s business card, our
change to the world is a UC change in the world, and our success also represents the success of
UC in the field of higher education. Of course, what I said above is not something everyone can
do, but I can. I really like a quote from Hemingway, and this is also my credo of life, “A man can

Many people use to tell me, hey, you should learn law or computer science, you certainly can
make a lot of money, but I do not care. The reason I choose to study economics and business is
really simple, that is, I know myself well and I know it’s the only thing I can be the best. I
believe that only the things you like have enough enthusiasm to work hard, it may become the
top in the industry.
I was influenced by the family environment from an early age and was particularly interested in
economy and business because my father. My father is the manager of a local investment bank. I
admire my father very much. He taught many things in this business, I have learn so much form
him. In high school, I like to read many books about economics, business and finance, such as
“Principles of Economics” and ” Security Analysis”. Sometimes I also sneak into the nearby
universities to participate in many companies’ campus recruitment speech or well-known
entrepreneurs speech, although I do not fully understand, but I am very excited I can learn new
things.
I have a very clear understanding of economics and business as a profession that is constantly
evolving and evolving in the real world, so I have always maintain my passion for economics
and commerce. My father told me that the origin of economics is from the Western world, so my
parents are supportive of my study abroad. After going abroad, my dad gave me financial
support, and I created my own stock account to trade stocks in the United States. Now I have
achieved very good returns. During the summer break, I was fortunate to have a fund company
offer in Shanghai. I came to Shanghai from my city alone. The internship made me learn a lot. I
learned more intuitively and profoundly about the industry, learned about finance, and I also

I have encountered many difficulties and challenges in my life, despite the fact that I get
stronger when I overcome them does not make me grateful to them. For example, the difficulty I
encountered during my internship in Shanghai last summer, which made me understand the
significance of higher education and triggered my decision to join higher academic institutions for
my career aspirations. The difficulty I encountered come in when my supervisor asked me to make
a plan and memorandum for a fund product, something that I have never done it before in my life.
This scenario made me realize the gap between the school and the real world. At school, I had
learned to write a good Essay, but I have not been introduced or practice the real professional fund
products finance plan. This frustrated me because I was afraid to fail it and I even wanted to write
an email to my supervisor and tell him that am not able to write the plan because I don’t know how
to do so. When I turned on the computer, I could not write that email, because I could not allow
myself to give up so easily, and if I gave up now, I would not be of any difference from anyone
else. Finally, I decided to try my best, rather than defeat.
First, I had to find materials that could enable me to get a clue on fund’s product from the
previous company meeting records. Then I read the materials carefully to gain more understanding,
and gradually I was able to find a clue based on the case I learned from my school. I found that the
assignment given had some similarities with the case study I had learned from school, although I
could not understand some of the topics which I had to request assistance from my colleagues.
Also, I wrote an email to my university teacher to ask some professional guide and fortunately,
my teacher replied to my email promptly, and with the help of my teacher and my colleagues, I
finally completed the task successfully. I watched the printer slowly print out all the documents,
and I was proud of myself, not only for completing the difficult task, but also I proved myself I
can do better without giving up.
However, life is full of drama. When I submitted the completed plan and memorandum to
my superiors, my supervisor told me that it had been already done. He looked at my document and
only commented that it was not bad. To be honest, I was unable to accept more than 120 hours of
effort wasted. When I looked at the busy crowd in the office, I suddenly realized that it was all in
vain, but a precious experience to me. And, for my job, it requires more skills and doing assignment
within the timeline to be a qualified employee. This made me realize that I lacked enough
experiences for the job and I had to accept to join higher institution to gain a more professional
education so that I can be able to be equipped with required skills. I joined UC to strengthen my
education, and I believe when I walk out of UC, I will be ready to face the next difficulty.
Fourth
When I was young, many people thought I was neither a good boy nor a good student.
Chinese high-pressure learning is just to get good grades in exams, but I want to learn something
that will be useful in my life instead of taking exams which makes me sick and tired of the same
boring school days. This has made me enjoy reading my favorite books often during class sections
because I would like to follow my ideas and not to do what someone else wants me to do.
I think my biggest strengths is to adapt, survive, and get things done in the real world, and
which is not either easy or difficult to do so. I must admit that I am not a “good student,” and if the
definition of a “good student” is the one getting very high GPA, then it does not mean I am worse
than any other student with a 4.0 GPA. A perfect grade can only represent academic success, but
it does not represent the ability to stand high in a world of fierce competition.
I was once evaluated like a good bottle of red wine, which has no luxury of packaging, but
when you drink it, it will never let you down. I don’t think my own experience is legendary as well
I don’t participate in many activities, which makes me differ from many students. I am very focused
on doing things better that am good at. The purpose of learning is to successfully achieve
educational and life goals. This makes me focus on a living case that school goals. I have only two
goals in my studying; one is to get good grades to pass in my schooling. Secondly, is to use all my
time to learn and achieve knowledge and skills that I am interested in and which will enable me to
come up with real-world demands. My efforts made me better, I’ve been an intern severally in
different companies which have differentiated me from my colleagues who majored in school work
than associating with the real word for real experience. Like a tourist, no one cares if he comes or
leaves. For example being an intern doesn’t mean you should know everything but rather you
should ready to learn and gain industry knowledge. During my internships, I was able to learn and
utilize skills achieved, and this made my supervisor to promise me for a job after graduation. In
business class, when my classmates are learning to play the stock trading game by Marketwatch,
my stock account already have two years of university tuition fees, which I opened with only
