GETTING STARTED

Open the file SC_PPT16_6a_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download
from the SAM website.

Save the file as SC_PPT16_6a_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1”
to a “2”.

If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do
not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
To complete this Project, you will also need to download and save the following
support files from the SAM website:

With the file SC_PPT16_6a_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that
your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.

If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and
download a new copy from the SAM website.
PROJECT STEPS
1.
Epix Energetic Learning specializes in gamified learning that influences
behavior. After showing a city recycling committee demonstrations on other
topics, you want to deliver a presentation that incorporates a few gaming
elements. You complete the presentation by creating bulleted lists and links for
both gamification and recycling information.
On Slide 1 (“Gamification for Recycling”), align the pictures of the recycling bins
as follows:
a.
Select Align to Slide from the Align menu, if necessary, and then align
the pictures to the right.
b.
Select Align Selected Objects from the Align menu, and then distribute
the pictures vertically.
2.
On Slide 2 (“How Does It Work?”), create a hyperlink from the picture of the
green badge to Slide 6 (“Sample Recycling Jeopardy Game”).
3.
On Slide 3 (“The Process”), change the bullets to the picture

With Slide 3 still displaying, create a hyperlink from the text “Gamification” to

On Slide 4 (“Top Things Users Like”), change the bullets to numbers.

On Slide 5 (“Users Dislike Equally”), modify the Level 1 hollow bullets as
follows:
a.
Change the size to 90% of text.
b.
Change the color to Red, Accent 4, Darker 50% (8th column, 6th row of
the Theme Colors palette).
7.
On Slide 6 (“Sample Recycling Jeopardy Game”), create a hyperlink from the
text “10” in the table to Slide 7 (“THESE DEVICES AND APPLIANCES…”).
8.
On Slide 7 (“THESE DEVICES AND APPLIANCES…”), change the line spacing in
the text box to 1.5.
9.
With Slide 7 still displaying, edit the action button so it creates a hyperlink to
the next slide.
10.
On Slide 8 (“VAMPIRE DEVICES”), format the home button in the lower-right
corner as follows:
a.
Change the size to a height of 0.8″ and a width of 1″.
b.
Change the shape style to Subtle Effect – Orange, Accent 3 (4th
column, 4th row of the Shape Styles gallery).
c.
Display guides.
d.
Drag the horizontal guide to 3″ below the center.
e.
Drag the vertical guide to 2″ to the right of the center.
f.
Drag the home button so its left side and bottom touch the intersection of
the horizontal and vertical guides, as shown in Figure 1 on the next page.
g.
Hide guides.

With Slide 8 still displaying, format the document action button as follows:
a.
Create a hyperlink from the document action button to open the Word file
Support_SC_PPT16_6a_Vampire-Energy.docx, available for
download from the SAM website.
b.
Change the shape style to Subtle Effect – Black, Dark 1 (1st column, 4th
row of the Shape Styles gallery).
In Slide Sorter view, hide Slide 9 and Slide 10.
In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following
page. Save your changes, close the presentation, and then exit PowerPoint. Follow the
directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
