Leaders eat last
One of the best-selling books about leadership is leaders eat last by Simon Sinek. It is a
book that every leader needs to read to lead their team to achieve great things perfectly. One of
the biggest problems that leaders fail at accomplishing is a good culture among employees and
better working environments. Many employees complain about their work and do it just because
they want to get the salary to help them survive. However, leaders need to worry no more, the
book, leaders eat last, fully and describe the strategies on how a leader can accomplish best
working environment to make employee appreciate and want to give their best in work. It shows
how leaders can use different strategies to create a positive culture in the work environment that
every employee would wish to work with an organization.
The most interesting point of the book is how employee needs protection and how every
employee is like family. This is pure truth. The reason most employees do not like workplaces is
that they do not feel like they belong to the organization. They always feel insecure about their
work and become worried, and that is why they are afraid to give their all. The weeks reading
text showed the importance of togetherness in performing the task. Simon also describes how
strong bonds are important in the workplace. It is also very true that once the needs and
grievances of employees are put into a priority by leaders, the employees feel motivated a lot and
feel like they belong. Simon points out how it is important that the leader protect employees and
employee protect each other. This is true because the principle does not only apply in a working
environment but also in the society. A society where people look for each other have strong
bonds and solve issues easily due to high coordination and motivation.
Simon compares the bonding of employees in the workplace should be one that relates to
a family bond. Once an employee becomes part of the family, it is the duty of other to welcome

them and make sure they feel at home to explore their best capabilities. Each family member
always should look after each other, and it is true with Simon readings that once a leader creates
a family related environment a company can achieve beyond set objectives. One of the favorite
quotes is “Being a leader is like a parent, and the company is like a new family to join.” I agree
with this because the roles of a parent to protect the children (employees) and make sure that
they are corrected when wrong and appreciated when have done right. It is also the role of
apparent to ensure that they guide their parents towards the right direction and it relates very
closely to how leaders of organizations should be most of the times.
The other interesting topic that Simon talks about in the book is how the writer can relate
leadership to science. Simon creatively relates how leadership can be related to biology and
shows how leadership is like different chemicals. The chemistry that the reader analyses is
Endorphins, Dopamine, Serotonin, Oxytonin, and Cortisol. It is amazing how the writer can
connect each of the chemicals to how successful leadership can be achieved. The most
interesting is the dopamine chemical which is a chemical related to the positive feeling one gets
due to accomplishing a certain objective. Everybody wants to know what they have achieved,
and if it is positive, it motivates them on the future accomplishment of doing things because they
know the result. The week reading also pointed out how successful accomplishment of objective
helps employee gain motivation of working more and using their best capabilities. Simon relates
the motivation with dopamine in an excellent way that relates to accomplishing objectives in the
workplace.
It is an excellent book that demonstrates leadership in almost every category. This is only
but few perspectives that the writer takes when writing the book. Simon goes to the extent of
showing illustration by the legendary movie of 300 hundred, why and how they were successful

and how it relates to the leadership of an organization. It is a book that every leader deserve to
read and implement most of the strategy that they think will fit in their working environment.
