Expert answer:Intro to Music Blog

Expert answer:I need someone to talk about Christmas music. You should at least talk about two music and should give me the link to the videos of youtube that is related to the christmas music you are talking about. 1 Page single space of writing is enough for you to explain the two musics and need you to relate to musical terms. Please don’t go off topic as this writing is about intro music. You can give brief info about the music and why its good for christmas. Also, you can talk about the melodies, lyrics, and symphony or any other things that relates to the music. 1 page full single space with two video links would be enough! Please remember that the genre of the topic is Christmas! Example of other writings are attached on the drop files.

P!nk
Alecia Moore, better known by her stage name Pink, is a pop rock singer with many
well-known hit songs. She started singing at 13, became a part of and left two R&B
bands, and eventually released her first R&B album in 2000 at 20 (“Pink”). She
gained popularity, switched genres to pop and debuted an edgier image in 2001
when she appeared on “Lady Marmalade” with Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim and Mya.
Since than Pink has released 6 more albums. Her most recent release was her
album Beautiful Trauma, which launched at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in October
(“Pink’s ‘Beautiful Trauma’”).
Two songs on Beautiful Trauma are my personal favorite “Beautiful Trauma” and “I
Am Here.” “Beautiful Trauma” starts with a preview of the melody by a saxophone
and strings. Then the first verse starts and Pink sings accompanied by a piano. This
section is an example of polyphony and homophony. The upper range of the piano
and voice play and sing the same melody creating polyphony. The lower range of the
piano plays chords that create a scaffold for the higher ranges, known as
homophony. When the chorus begins, the piano cuts while drums and electronic
sounds enter to support the vocals. The drums driving the chorus and create a heavy
and intense feeling that supports the theme of the lyrics. Shortly after the piano
enters and joins the electronic synthesizer as the intensity calms. The song
continues to switch between loud and intense and soft and thoughtful, which mirrors
the lyrics and the realizations of the singer. “Beautiful Trauma” ends with the melody
played by strings and a saxophone, another example of polyphony. A xylophone
plays on certain beats, matching the notes of the other instruments playing the
melody.
Unlike “Beautiful Trauma,” “I Am Here” begins with a moving tempo. There is a bass
drum keeping the beat and a guitar playing a rhythm. When Pink begins singing, the
driving bass stops but the guitar continues to play the same phrase. It is not
polyphony because the rhythm of the guitar and vocals are different. The guitar in
this song is used to support the vocals by playing chords creating homophony.
Polyphony appears shortly after when a choir joins Pink to sing part of the chorus.
Pink then drops out and the choir becomes the sole vocals, supported by guitar and
percussion. Like “Beautiful Trauma,” “I Am Here” switches between soft and
passionate to upbeat and loud. The upbeat and driving parts include the choir. The
feeling and composition during these moments are similar to religious choir songs.
Pink is an influential pop rock artist who has made a name for herself by being
unique and not conforming to female pop stereotypes. Her songs, while they are
sometimes about relationships like most pop hits today, are still unique because of
the way Pink presents them. The songs feature uncommon instruments in the guitar
heavy pop music currently on the radio, like an electronic synthesizer and
saxophone in “Beautiful Trauma” and a choir in “I Am Here”. Also, instead of only the
melody sung by a voice and supported by instrumental scaffolding, the melody is
given to other instruments as well. These additions to the common elements like
verse and chorus, and piano and guitar support help Pink stay relevant in the pop
genre, but also create her own sound.
