On November 26,2017 a correction officer was assaulted by inmates. This incident that occurred on
Rikers Island captured the event on surveillance camera of multiple inmates assaulting the officer. In the
footage below it shows the officers walking among a group of prisoners and was attacked by one, than
another when his fellow officer got away. Ghauri, the victim was sent to the hospital for his injuries and
an investigation is being proceeded. This topic has brought up more arguments such as having CO better
trained when facing these types of predicament.

I think that it is extremely sickening, cruel, and heartless for a biological mom to starve her own
children and make them sleep with their feces all over the cold, hard floor (let alone for an adoptive
parent or foster parent). The mom had refused to feed her 16 year-old daughter, Natalie, because she was
“too lazy” to get up from her spot. Another reason for 43 year-old Nicole’s irresponsible and unacceptable
behavior was because she claimed that she wasn’t in the mood to feed her kids when they asked her at that
time. Natalie & her siblings had no energy to get up because their mom had refused to let them go to the
bathroom and had been abusing and depriving them of food and water often for days, and sometimes even
up to two weeks. When the kids were finally found by the police, it was already too late for Natalie
because she had died of severe malnutrition. Her siblings were immediately rushed to the hospital. The
mom was arrested and charged with murder, kidnapping, and child endangerment. How can a mom
just neglect her own kids at home and leave to go out like that???

On December 10, 2017, WWE Superstar Swann was arrested with battery and kidnapping/false
imprisonment of his wife (Riggs) in Gainesville, Florida. Based on the arrest report, Swann and Riggs had
gotten into an argument over Swann critiquing his wife’s performance (also a professional wrestler) from
a match that night. During the heated argument, witnesses said that they had seen Swann grabbing Riggs
in a headlock and dragging her back into his car, while she was yelling when she had tried to get away
from him. The WWE wrestler could end up behind bars for up to 5 years once he has been found guilty of
the kidnapping charge of Riggs.
Domestic violence against women is absolutely unacceptable, because most men are physically stronger
than most women. A man does not have the right to beat his intimate partner for whatever the reason is. In
other words, there should never be any excuse for any physical violence and/or emotional manipulation in
any kinds of relationship. As we all know, man-on-woman domestic violence is just as bad as the
domestic violence of women-on-man. The reason is because using violence against anyone (both men and
women) in order to resolve a conflict is inherently wrong anyway in the first place.
