Brief discussion about the entrepreneur and his / her company (at most 2 paragraphs).
Please provide some background about the entrepreneur and his/her company (approximately 300
words).
In 2012, a local ice cream brand ‘Ice Mama’ was established in Oman because of the dream of
an Omani couple. ‘Ice cream mama’ is known for its unique and variety of flavors that has a
blend of Oman’s traditional culture. The idea of this ice cream parlor came to the couple ‘Rumi
and Huda Lawati’, who had no idea that their brand would become popular across Muscat and
they would become successful aspiring entrepreneurs. Ice cream mama is a medium enterprise
that gained popularity in a short period because of its authentic ice cream flavors that are blend
with modern flavors. The entrepreneur couple got the idea of opening their first outlet in Qurum
because of the positive comments they got from their friends and family for their homemade ice
cream flavors.
The flavors that are offered by ice cream mama have been passed from generations in the lawati
family. The founders of ice cream mama spent two years to research on different flavors that
they could offer which would be liked and appreciated by the customers. They started their ice
cream parlor and offered those flavors which were not being offered by the competitor ice cream
shops in the market. Their main goal was to provide customers with local flavors that is infused
with modern flavors. They kept their prices very nominal so that customers wouldn’t feel they
are buying expensive ice creams for their different flavors, hence also because of their pricing
strategy they have been able to grow by opening many outlets in Oman. Ice cream mama had a
promising entrepreneurship journey because of the fact that whether or not their flavors would
be accepted by the customers and would they be able to survive in the market with their unique
flavors.
Plan of action to complete the assessment (how data gathering will be conducted, maximum of two
paragraphs).
The assignment will be completed using different data collection methods which will help in
answering the tasks successfully and coming up with a good report. For primary data collection
interview will be conducted with the founders of Ice cream mama to understand in depth about
their entrepreneurship journey, which will greatly help me in writing the report.
Then, from different secondary sources data will be gathered and used for doing the report. The
secondary sources that will be mainly used are websites, videos and books.
