COMMUNITY STRATEGY PLAN A

Introduction
In order to carry out a successful community assessment, it will require a lot of things to
be put into consideration. For instance, knowing the resources that are at disposal that can be
utilized, the challenges that a person is likely to face as well as the hindrances. This helps to get
well prepared and come up with ways of coping with the concerns.
Community Resources
One of the community resources that would allow me to carry a proper study is the good
infrastructure that is already in place. There is a good transportation system which will help me to
be able to move easily. I will be able to drive from place to place in order to conduct the research
myself without any hindrances. It will also be possible for me to walk around the community if I
choose to do so. Another resource is the presence of healthcare facilities. This makes it possible to
conduct the research in an easy way since I will be able to study the facilities and also gather
information that has to do with the patients (Hobfoll, 2001). It would be possible to give the health
practitioners a questionnaire in which they would answer back. I would be able to get the
information that I am looking for.
Community Strengths and Concerns
One of the concern is that the area does not have enough healthcare facilities that people
are able to access be it those that are private, those funded by the local government or even the
state. The healthcare facilities, in this case, include hospitals, clinics and also public health

organization. People have to travel long distances in order to get the medical attention that they
want. This has been a challenge since at times the people are too sick to get to the hospital. Lack
of healthcare facilities hinders the growth and expansion of healthcare. One of the strengths that
the community has is its geographical location. The community is well located near the main
highways that its access will not be a challenge. The infrastructure is also good that if the health
facilities are constructed people will have no challenges accessing them. This location makes it
good for the people to be able to access the recreational facilities that are within as well as outside
the community.
Potential Barriers and Possible Solutions
The potential barriers that exist in the community are the lack of activity –exercise. This
also includes physical activity. One of the things that have influenced this is the growth of
technology. People are no longer going out to meet with their friends like they used to do in the
past. They are instead remaining in their houses and conversing through the phones. This becomes
a problem when trying to implement any community health, this is because if people are called up
for a meeting to decide on the way forward for the healthcare they are likely not to show up (Sharpe
et al., 2000). This problem can be solved by making sure that all the families to send a
representative and there should be a fine put aside for those who do not participate.
Another potential barrier would be lack of decision-making bodies, the community is
going to need a body that can be in charge of any projects that are put in place. Such a body will
also be in charge resources allocation. This may require the community members to be mobilized
in order to agree to participate in any projects geared towards health care. Once people have agreed
to come together then a team can be formed which help in decision making and seeing through
any projects.

In conclusion, proper mitigation of the concerns will help when it comes to carrying out
the actual research, it will make it able to work with the community. The researcher will also be
able to make the necessary plans in order to conduct the study successfully.
