Expert answer:Capstone Critical Resource Review

Expert answer:Application: Critical Resource Review
The literature review provides the empirical justification for the project. Literature reviews involve collecting resources directly related to the selected problem, critically analyzing those resources, and synthesizing them into a coherent narrative. The critical analysis not only considers the validity of the argument, but the credibility of the source as well. Where did the information come from? Was it the author’s personal opinion? Did he or she conduct a study or analyze data? These questions should be considered in completing a critical review of literature.

IMPACT OF EMPLOYEE SATISFACTION ON THE PERFORMANCE

Impact of employee satisfaction on the performance of the organization: problem statement
Performance is a major area of interest for companies. However, there are various
ways that determine the performance of a company. According to Wilburn & Wilburn (2014),
how well a company is able to develop performance optimization strategies determines its
long-term sustainability while at the same time providing it with a competitive edge over
other industry players.
While there are many ways to improve the performance of an organization, focusing
on the employees has the highest potential for every company. Unfortunately, not every
company realizes the significance of balancing between the welfare of the employees and the
optimization of their performance. According to Auer & Antončič (2011), employee
satisfaction determines how well an employee enjoys doing their work and, in return, has a
major influence on their individual performance. Collectively, an increase in the performance
of each employee then means an overall improvement in the performance of a company. Due
to the various models that companies implement in a move to improve the satisfaction of their
employees, there may be a need to evaluate the success of these models and their potential
impact on the performance of the employees and their respective companies.
There are various ways to improve the satisfaction of the employees. However, a
major issue is that each of them comes at a cost to the company. According to Pouliakas
(2010), companies may fail to focus on employee satisfaction due to the costs that this creates
to the company. In as much as they focus on minimizing the costs of creating and maintaining
high levels of employee satisfaction, the overall impact may hurt the performance of the
company. Although it may not directly lead to a decline in cost, it has the potential to
negatively impact the revenues generates by the company.

Different employees have different needs. While it is important to meet these needs
and preferences, not every company is able to meet them. As such Raziq & Maulabakhsh
(2015) note that the satisfaction of employees may vary from one company to the next and
amongst the employees as well. This calls for a need to evaluate the ways that companies can
best meet the expectations of the employees in various segments such as compensation,
benefits, and the workplace environment.
There is also a need for companies to evaluate the potential benefits of implementing
employee satisfaction strategies and the costs that these attract. In this case, it may be possible
for a company to invest heavily in ways of improving the satisfaction of the employees but
end up achieving no significant improvement in performance. A dilemma thus emerges on
when focus on employee satisfaction is necessary and to what extent companies should go in
adding value to the employees.
